| so it's a saturday night in good ol' dur-ham. and instead of going out to the *psh* 37 parties i was invited to tonight *brush shoulder off* (although! according to my trusty sources *coughmihocough* one of the parties was actually chanting "we love cheryl lin" for a while before realizing that i wasn't even there don't play play ah) i'm sitting in my apartment all by myself (thanks adrian) with a big pile of boxes and furniture (again, thanks adrian) watching poker tournaments on espn and eating the mac and cheese and salad that i victoriously (victory is mine!!) made all on my own. yep! i'm a big girl now.
i figured i should clock in some down town aka pretend to study for the MCAT before i head off to *hem hem* (props to anyone who gets that harry potter ref... yeah i'm a dork) itaaaaaaaaaaaaaaliaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!
so anyways i guess a couple of things have been sitting in my mind tonight from the past couple of weeks... nothing major... completely random... but here they are:
1) old school pictures are still better than digital photos 2) deerfield has its own culture. and when i go back there i suddenly wear dresses and heels... instead of tanks and sweats 3) i am OBSESSED with watching poker.now if only i could play... apparently i don't have a good poker face... 4) best songs of all time: the way you look tonight by tony bennet and kiss the rain by billie myers 5) i am most myself with hao, adrian and sam. therefore 2nd half jan 2006 was heaven to me. 6)God is amazing. 7) i'm always afraid of getting old... but every year's proven to be in some way better than the last. maybe growing old ain't that bad 8)i've realized that a large part of my personality, my view of life comes essentially from my relationship with God. 9) In a week... i'll be in ITALY!! eeeeeeeeeeeetahhhhhhhhhhhhhleeeeeeeeeeeeeee
mmm ok that's it. | | |
| so it's 3:46am. of COURSE instead of working i'm procrastinating.
but anyway... i just watched the winning froshlife video... since a couple of defmo peeps are in it. dayuuuum that video's good. it's soooo well made. but more than that it makes me think about my own time at duke. i'll admit that i haven't had what most people would call a great college experience -- no druken debaucheries or black outs at crazy parties... definitely not a big sorority girl... actually most of my time has been spent in the library pretending the study, in wilson for defmo, not cleaning my room, in brodie for defmo, eating too much, missing class to stay on the quad whenever the sun comes out, at adrian's apartment, in a commons room for defmo, trying to stop my freshmen friends who are still trying to increase my tolerance, choreographing/watching defmo vids/obsessing about defmo, eating indian food on thurs at the great hall, learning poker, losing my keys, watching duke bball kick butt (except tonight... boo to fsu) and just hangin out whereever, whenever.
i think so far i've loved my time here. which makes me wanna make even more of the next 1.25 years i have left here. (omg is that number right??) i don't know exactly what that entails... but i'm suddenly recharged about college.
leave it to the freshmen to actually inspire the rest of us. | | |
| it's weird. all i had was one class with her. i barely knew her.
but still, she was a part of my Deerfield class... part of the class of
2003. that's the 4th person from DA in 3 years, 2nd person from my
class. considering there's about 120 of us in each class... i think
that's a lot.
Camille, where ever you are, may you rest in peace.
deerfield days are days of glory.
